We had some opposition in our home tonight. It wasn’t pleasant. I was wishing we could have somehow avoided it all together. But in the end, we learned some valuable lessons from it. And now I wouldn’t take that experience away, even if I could.
2 Nephi 2 gives us a good reminder that opposition is a crucial element of God’s plan. This is what we signed up for in the pre-mortal life. We knew it would be hard, but we also understood why it was necessary.
The “natural man” in us likes things easy. We forget sometimes that “opposition permits us to grow toward what our Heavenly Father would have us become (Oaks, April 2016)”. It’s reassuring to know that God will “consecrate [our] afflictions for [our] gain” (2 Nephi 2:2).
What opposition are you experiencing right now in your life?
What are you LEARNING from it?
What QUALITIES are you developing because of it?
What do you APPRECIATE more, because of it?
