How to Talk Like Best Friends

Research of happily married couples has found that they act like good friends. No big surprise, right?

But how does that look in marriage? And how can you apply that to another relationship you're trying to strengthen?

Think about how best friends TALK with each other:

-They WANT to talk every day.

-It’s a priority to CONNECT.

-They want to know what the other is THINKING, FEELING, and EXPERIENCING.

-They are GENEROUS in conversation.

-They LISTEN.

-They OFFER SUPPORT.

-They COMPLIMENT.

-They VALIDATE.

-They OPEN UP.

-They are HONEST, but are still KIND and CONSIDERATE.

So for our MORE LOVE CHALLENGE today, take time to connect more through conversation. Ask meaningful questions. Listen with your eyes. Validate. Open up. Share. Compliment. Love.

And like always, keep doing the previous challenges. If things aren’t going perfectly, that’s okay. If you’ve fallen back in to negative interactions, or things have digressed, just keep trying. Your efforts are not wasted. Change can take time and persistence.
