Holidays. We want to enjoy them. But they sometimes have a way of accentuating our struggles. Valentine’s might be one of the worst. There are many who’s hearts are hurting. The single, unhappily married, divorced, widowed, lonely. Even some of those who “have a Valentine” still feel deep pain and sadness mid-February.
Life is so hard. For everyone.
Isaiah has a way of coming to us in our sorrow, and offering hope for our personal “waste places” “wildernesses” and “deserts”:
“For the Lord shall comfort Zion, he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving and the voice of melody” (2 Nephi 8:3).“...everlasting joy and holiness shall be upon their heads; and they shall obtain gladness and joy; sorrow and mourning shall flee away"(2 Nephi 8:11).
Whatever your personal struggles are right now, Christ understands perfectly and knows how to comfort you. Everything will be alright in the end. Because of Him.
